A Remarkable Journey to China: Advancing the Conversation on Cosmetics and Eye Health
At Èyes Are The Story, our mission has always been bigger than beauty. We believe cosmetics should support, not compromise, eye health. That mission recently took me halfway around the world, where I had the privilege of sharing our work with some of the world's leading ophthalmologists in China.
Over the course of an incredible week, I traveled from Wenzhou to Fuxian, speaking with internationally respected eye care professionals about a topic that is becoming increasingly important: the impact cosmetics can have on the health of the ocular surface.
From the moment we arrived, we experienced extraordinary hospitality, impeccable organization, and genuine generosity. Every meeting, presentation, and conversation reflected China's deep commitment to advancing eye care through research, innovation, and collaboration.
Discovering Eye Valley
One of the most inspiring moments of the trip was visiting Eye Valley in Wenzhou, a remarkable national innovation hub and industrial park dedicated entirely to the eye health industry.
Eye Valley brings together researchers, entrepreneurs, clinicians, manufacturers, and technology innovators in one extraordinary ecosystem focused on improving vision and eye health. The scale of the initiative was unlike anything I had experienced before.
Walking through this community of innovation, it became clear that the future of ophthalmology is being shaped not only by groundbreaking research but also by meaningful collaboration across disciplines. The vision behind Eye Valley is ambitious, and witnessing it firsthand left me energized and inspired. I returned home with countless new ideas and exciting possibilities for the future of eye-safe beauty.
Sharing the Science
During my visit, I had the honor of presenting at the renowned Wenzhou Eye Hospital and speaking at the TFOS China Conference in Fuxian, where experts gathered to discuss advances in ocular surface disease and dry eye.
It was incredibly rewarding to share the growing body of research connecting cosmetics with ocular surface health and to discuss why developing products specifically designed for people with sensitive eyes has never been more important.
The conversations extended well beyond the lecture halls. I was also honored to be interviewed by China Central Television (CCTV), providing another opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of considering eye health in cosmetic formulation and daily beauty routines.

A Global Conversation
What made this experience truly memorable was the enthusiasm, curiosity, and engagement of everyone we met. The ophthalmologists, researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders asked thoughtful questions, shared valuable perspectives, and demonstrated a genuine commitment to improving patients' quality of life.
It was a powerful reminder that protecting eye health is a global priority - and that cosmetics have an important role to play in that conversation.

Looking Ahead
At Èyes Are The Story, we are proud to contribute to this growing international dialogue. As more research highlights the relationship between cosmetics and ocular surface health, our commitment remains unchanged: creating products that respect the delicate anatomy of the eye while delivering beautiful performance.
This journey reinforced what we've believed from the very beginning - that the future of beauty lies in collaboration between science, medicine, and innovation.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who welcomed us to China, to the organizers of the TFOS China Conference, the team at Wenzhou Eye Hospital, the visionaries behind Eye Valley, and all those who made this unforgettable experience possible.
The conversations have only just begun, and I look forward to continuing our shared mission of helping people see - and feel - the beauty of healthier eyes.
